Art Show at the DVAA
NARROWSBURG, NY: With many of Pablo Picasso’s creations, we’d all agree a child could have done just as well. But Picasso would have taken that as a high compliment.
Picasso was so successful because he knew the best and most precious art is childlike. It’s simple and yet it’s deep; it’s fragile, but resilient; innocent and misbehaved all at the same time.
His quote, “It took me a lifetime to learn to paint like a child,” is the inspiration for a series of events over several years that have encouraged young artists and given them the experience of an opening night.
There is an opportunity to be a part of this magic on September 20, 2025 from 4-6 PM, at the Krause Recital Hall of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance in Narrowsburg, NY. That’s where dozens of aspiring Picassos, ages 2-16, will be showing off the masterpieces they created at Picasso Was Right! Events all around Sullivan County.
A truly collaborative effort, this exhibit/reception is the result of the combined efforts of the Barryville Area Arts Association, the Western Sullivan Public Library, the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library, Sullivan 180, the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Sullivan County Legislature and many others.
Many of the young artists will be on hand to explain their process—or share some Gummy Bears and Kook Aid Jammers.
This project sponsored by the Western Sullivan Public Library, the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, and the Barryville Area Arts Association, and made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NY State Legislature and administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, and a Community Development Grant from Sullivan 180.
